Newest Boeing jet rises from spools of thread

It all starts with a thread: Toray employee Benny Karlsson does a fiber repair in the creel room at the Toray composites plant in Frederickson. From this flat carbon thread and epoxy resin, Toray produces a roll of black tape that is the raw material for the composite plastic structure of the 787.
