Finding the dress

ERIKA SCHULTZ / THE SEATTLE TIMES

Rosa Rice-Pelepko, 18, selects her prom dress as her mother Frances Rice reacts to the news at Samila Boutique in Redmond April 22, 2014. Rice-Pelepko, a senior at Shorecrest High School, tried on about a dozen dresses before choosing the first gown of the bunch. After choosing a jade chiffon gown, Rice-Pelepko checked Facebook to make sure she wasn't going to steal anyone's dress by accident. "The trend right now is that the girls create a Facebook page for their school,"said Yasmin Shirdel, the lead stylist and buyer for the shop. "They claim their dress to create exclusivity." Allison Zaidi, sales associate, is in the center.
