Russian-owned superyacht, all 440 feet of it, visits Seattle

STEVE RINGMAN / THE SEATTLE TIMES

An inflatable dingy motors past the Serene, the 440-foot personal yacht of Russian vodka titan Yuri Scheffler, docked at the Port of Seattle's Pier 90 on Sunday. The Serene, with a crew of 52, has been in Vancouver, B.C., for several months. It was built in Italy, launched in 2011 and has been spotted in ports of call around the world. This is its first time in Seattle. One of the biggest private yachts to ever come into our waters, it has an indoor saltwater pool, two helicopter landing platforms and garage-like storage for a submarine and tender. The submarine can dive to 300 feet.
